Wanderweg

Trail

Yesterday our family went out for a "practice hike". This time we did it with full gear. We learned much about what it will feel like when we are out there in the mountains for days at a time.

Why do we bother?
Lots of reasons:
For seven hours there was not a sound from an electronic.
More than once our kids said, "this is the best day".
The discipline of it all.
Nature.
Waterfalls.

...and a chance for introspection.

It's ok to have silence or the absence of tv, music, phones, computers.

Jen: "Phillip, catch up to your dad."
Phillip: "but there's a butterfly!"

Rob: "we need to go before someone associates us with that smell!"

A lesson on birch bark

I think we are in trouble with this one.

Key words: Hiking, Backpacking, Germany

  1. FAmily Hiking, great. I understand the 'trial hike' or test. Very important and I would think even mores so with the family. Some of our best days in life were spent on the AT.
    This is good!
